Zinnia

Have you heard of a flower called a Zinnia?  I'd heard of it before, but never knew what they looked like.

Back in first grade, Nicole got to pick a variety of seed to plant in a little cup, and she picked zinnias.  I think she planted three seeds, but one of them died off rather quickly.  Well, after a few different transplants into bigger containers, a major move to a new state, a few scares with forgetting to water them, and then a transplant to our garden, the zinnias are doing great!  :)  Cole is pretty proud of them!  Here are a few pictures:

Here they are last month, before any of the buds bloomed.

This was the first bloom - a pink one! :)

And here's Cole next to the plants on a hot, sunny day -- after the second bud bloomed (the white one on the left).

And here they are as of yesterday - the 3rd, 4th and 5th blooms opening up (just ignore the chives in the background)!  Pretty flowers! :) :) :)
