Pushing through

Today seemed to be a hard day for Ryan emotionally. 😓

He slept a lot more today, and wasn't as active when he was awake. My brother and sister-in-law brought our girls down last night, so they got to come see Ryan today. Becca was impatient for Ryan to wake up and blow her kisses, and when he finally did she was so happy! But he wasn't up for mouthing many words today, not even when we played some music for him. :(

Later this afternoon, Amy brought her girls by for a visit, and Ryan showed them a couple of the things he could do with his mouth, but he wasn't up for much.

He mouthed the words "in pain" a few times, right before he was due for his next round of pain medicine this evening. And as I spoke encouraging words to him, he would look sad and mouth, "why?"... it was heart-wrenching to see him question why he should keep trying, to see him question why we want him to stick around and why we need him so much in our lives. I can't even imagine how frustrating this all must be for him! I'm beginning another fast for him tonight, praying to find a way to help his mood improve, and praying for him to continue to regain control over his body.

One of the great employees here was frustrated that no one could locate a fan to use in Ryan's room (he's still sweating a lot), so she went and bought a little fan to clip onto his bed rail (with her own money). It was such a sweet gesture, and the fan seems to be helping!

Another awesome employee gave our girls a few quarters each (from her own purse) so they could get a treat from the vending machine. So kind! Those little blessings are very much appreciated.

I've also heard that some projects got done around our house today. I don't know many details, but we are all so very grateful! If you helped out (or if you have helped us in any way) please know how much we appreciate your support!

Tonight Ryan's mom is staying at the hotel with Cole and Becca, while I stay at the hospital with Ryan. Tomorrow we're hoping to attend church, and we'll see what we can do about cheering Ryan up and cheering him on.
