We have been feeling overwhelmed with gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from so many people. We are so grateful for each of you! Ryan is constantly trying to think of ways that he can express to each and every person how much he appreciates their help, even as he struggles with feeling unworthy of so much kindness. Thank you all!
Ryan worked hard again today, passing almost all of the "tests" the therapists threw at him. His speech therapist did notice a few deficits in some of his cognitive functioning (trying to complete a maze on paper was really hard for him), but he showed a lot of big improvements in every area compared to last week! Ryan did learn to walk with a cane, and he practiced getting up off of the floor in the event that he falls. (Last week when he practiced getting up off the floor, he wasn't quite strong enough to do it on his own, but this week he did really well!) He practiced getting into and out of a car, which he had no problems with.
When talking to the doctor today, the possibility of Ryan being discharged today instead of tomorrow was mentioned. Ryan clung to that hope all day, but in the end paperwork wasn't ready in time for him to be discharged early. It was depressing for him, but he's been handling it well, and can't wait for tomorrow!!! Unfortunately Ryan has had a huge headache all evening, in spite of all the pain meds to try and knock it out. Please pray that it will ease so he can get some good sleep tonight.
There will be a lot to do tomorrow, and I hope Ryan is up for all of the traveling! The thought that he finally gets to go home is very motivating indeed!
God is good!
