First Thing's First

It can be difficult to do things in order when you really want to get to the final destination "NOW". Some of the skills Ryan's therapist wants him to work on developing include prioritizing household projects, writing things on a schedule and sticking to it, and increasing his mental and physical stamina. We're also learning the importance of positive self-talk and validating the effort put into things that used to seem simple and easy. Navigating disability insurance and working with multiple medical companies on balance bills has been taking up quite a bit of time, even more than a year after Ryan's incident, but we are so grateful for God's tender mercies! We have added a family gratitude journal to our daily scripture study routine, so each day each of us gets to write down something that we are grateful for that happened that day. Hopefully this will continue to help us all improve our attitudes and see more of the goodness that surrounds us.

The weather sure has gotten hot these past few weeks! Our garden is flourishing in spite of our dog ruining our sprinklers and filching fresh produce. Becca planted two giant sunflowers this spring, and one of them has to be over 7 feet tall! (We haven't measured it yet, but hopefully we will soon!) At last count, we had on our vines seven decent-sized pumpkins, two small watermelons, and a quickly-growing cantaloupe. We've been enjoying our sugar-snap peas and cherry tomatoes, and still have a few potatoes and carrots to look forward to this fall.

We have enjoyed spending more time with family lately. It's so strange to think that summer is winding to a close! The girls start school next week, and a feeling of "change" is in the air.

I hope you all have a beautiful week! Thank you for sharing this journey of life with us!
