Grateful for the Sabbath

Once again, I am so grateful for the Sabbath Day! Today was a great day! Ryan and I were able to take walks outside (yes, Ryan was actually walking around outside!!! He uses a walker, but he is getting stronger and stronger every day!!!), and we had a lot of time to just sit and visit. We listened to a general conference talk recommended by Ryan's dad titled, "Continue in Patience" by Dieter F. Uchtdorf, from April 2010. It was just what we needed to hear today!

Ryan only had one hour of therapy today, and it was speech therapy, which is usually his least favorite. But today he did really good with everything he was asked to do, and even Ryan himself noticed the improvement in his mental clarity! It was very uplifting for him. :)

Because it was a slow day, therapy-wise, he was up for a nice visit from his grandparents and his Uncle Randy and Aunt Pam. Grandma made him an afghan, which he loves -- it really brightens up his room, and is keeping him warm. 💜💜💜

The Sacrament was brought to us again, for which we are very grateful. But Ryan and I both missed worshiping with our ward and the Spirit that we can feel much more readily during a Sacrament Meeting complete with hymns. To help bring that Spirit to the hospital, Ryan had us sing A Child's Prayer with his mom and our girls this afternoon. 💜💜💜

Tomorrow and Tuesday will likely be grueling days full of therapy for Ryan. He is working so hard because he cannot wait to go home! In the evenings he still gets depressed and anxious and just wishes for all of this to be over. But each morning he somehow finds the motivation to keep pushing himself onward and upward! He doesn't see it in himself, but he is such an amazing man! He feels so indebted to everyone for their kindness and all of the help we have received during this trying summer. He told me today how hard it is to be on the receiving end, when he just wants to be the one helping others.
