Why?

Today was a good day, but a little rough for Ryan. He has been having quite a bit of nausea, and a pretty persistent headache. But he pushed through everything to work through all of his therapy sessions again! He works so incredibly hard, it amazes me! And after working so hard, he is absolutely exhausted. He appreciates everyone's support and love, but has asked to keep the visitors to a minimum right now while he focuses on recovering.

Ryan's physical therapist said that when he first arrived here, "they" were guessing he might need to be here for 4 or 5 weeks. But based on how quickly Ryan is progressing, his PT said that, from his point of view at least, he would be surprised if Ryan is here any longer than two weeks!!! That was so encouraging to hear. Ryan cannot wait to get back home!

Speaking of home...we may need some help there from friends and family who are nearby. Besides various projects in different phases around the house (that our wonderful family have been working on for us), and some general cleaning and organizing that I just haven't had the time to get to, we have realized that we will probably need a sturdier hand rail on the stairs inside our house. Does anyone in/around American Falls have any experience with installing hand rails? We'll be back home next week because the girls start school on August 26th...where has this summer gone?! (that was a rhetorical question... 😜)

Ryan and I were reading scriptures together yesterday, and we came across a verse in the Book of Mormon that struck a chord. It's found in Alma 8:31, and it's referring to two great missionaries named Alma and Amulek, who were preaching the gospel to some hard-hearted people.

And they had power given unto them that they could not be confined in dungeons; neither was it possible that any man could slay them; nevertheless they did not exercise their power until they were bound in bands and cast into prison. Now, this was done that the Lord might show forth his power in them.

This simple verse helps us understand, at least a little, of why this whole ordeal has happened. The Lord is showing forth His power in healing Ryan. I pray that we may continue to have eyes to see His miracles, that our faith may be strengthened in the Lord. He has a plan for each one of us, and if you will ask Him, He will help you know what His plan for you is. Of course you have your agency -- He won't take that away from you -- but I testify that life is so much better when you choose to align yourself and your will with God's! 💜💜💜
